The best listener I know!

Mama Kat over at her place has some prompts to chose from today. I picked the one about the Best Listener I Know.

That would have to be my sister, "Tess". No matter what she is doing or what is going on she always takes the time to listen to you. Anytime I need to vent about something, which really is hardly ever - haha, I know I can count on her to listen. Whether she agrees with me or not, believes me or not, cares about what I am ranting about or not, really hears me or not....she is always there. Maybe she will say, "I don't know", or "huh", or "just don't worry about it"....it makes me feel better to talk to her. You may have to leave a message for her to call you back, especially if one of her shows is on, but she will call you back....and she will LISTEN.

I wish I could say the same for myself. Often times I will find myself thinking, " what did he/she just say to me?" Listening is definitely a great quality to have. Maybe I have become accustomed to tuning out unnecessary blabbering coming from TA and DQ fighting....I may hear you...but sometimes I am not listening. I think I am going to make this one of my resolutions. To work on really listening to people. To stop what I am doing; playing a game in the net, blogging (oh that will be difficult), or pause my show....I am going to be a better listener!!

"One friend, one person who is truly understanding, who takes the trouble to listen to us as we consider a problem, can change our whole outlook on the world."

I think it's a gift. I really do. I wish I was a better listener at times. You are very blessed to have a sister like that!

My sister and I aren't close. Wish things were different that way but that's awesome for you.

My best listener? Probably my cat, Rusty. He interrupts with a lot of purring but I always feel better after our chats.

I know I need to be a better listener too. Sometimes, I just have so much of my own stuff swirling in my head that I don't pay attention. I'll work on it:)

You know that is a great idea. To really just stop and listen. I know I tune mine out too much, and it's amazing how much I enjoy listening to them talking to each other. I just seem to have a problem when they are trying to talk to me!

I love that quote Ang...its so true :) I've got a bumper sticker at myspace that I love, it says--
"sometimes when I say, "oh I'm fine", I want someone to look me in the eye and say, "Tell the truth"
We all should be so lucky to have someone who cares enough to really listen...

Yep, my sis is a great listener, and I am the same for her.

The best thing about it is having someone who will listen but not judge, or try to solve your problem. Chances are you're gonna solve it anyway, just by talking it through.
