Mice Schmice!!

I hate mice....loathe them...would rather deal with anything but mice.
I knew we had some as I had seen the droppings when we move in, although the house had set empty for about 4 months before hand.
I heard them in the walls one night and we got traps and poison etc. No more noises, signs of them nor did we catch any then, that was about a month ago...i figured they just moved on.

Today as I was sitting here playing my beloved Canasta on Pogo i saw something out of the corner of my eye. Before i even looked i knew what it was. It was moving extremely slow and alittle "drunk" looking. It had clearly gotten into the poison. Of course I screamed, "there is a mouse down here!", like a little girl. John came down and got it and threw it outside...this mouse didn't have a clue as to what was going on. Then I decided that the furnace filter needed changed, it was looking pretty bad. Lo and behold a dead baby mouse, behind the filter!

So we went into the tool room, unfinished part of the basement. One of the sticky traps that WAS under the furnace at one time was drug clear across the room over to the tool bench with dirt, bugs and mouse droppings on it. Obviously the oblivious mouse had gotten OUT of that trap in it's drunken stupor! I was too frazzled to take pics...but I am sure you are all thanking me for that!

We have birds nests in both our fireplaces, which makes spring time pretty loud in our living room and family room. Our cats just love sitting there by the fireplace, listening to the little squeaks of the bird babies.

They would be even more thrilled, i am sure, if we had mice.

My wife told me a story of when they were sitting in their living room and a mouse came in spun around and collapsed in the middle of the room when company was around. She never wants me to use poison for that reason, but I do anyway.

Eek! I use to live in a small town and we had to deal with this problem once. Well I we moved to another small town and now we have to deal with scorpions! Double eek! Mice win on the ew scale though.

What worked for us was setting up those glue traps with a smudge of peanut butter on them. And I don't suggest using the pb after dipping into it..oh and use a plastic spoon..not your nice ones you use daily. Duh, right? Well you never know.. LOL If the job was left to my husband he'd use a new daily used spoon per scoop. ;)

i feel the same way about mice! we have been havng a little mouse problem, as well. the other night, my husband did catch one on a trap and took a picture of it. i refused to look at the picture. later that day, i was going through messages on my phone and i opened one from him and he had sent me the picture of the dead mouse!!!! he and my sons thought it was hysterical. i, on the other hand, was not so amused!
